The Fire Station

Yesterday, Rylee's playgroup visited my uncle's fire station. It was such a neat experience for Rylee. He has been wanting to go for a very long time so when we actually got there, he was more than a little excited. Haven even got excited, though she didn't know why.

They got to climb in the firetruck, sit in the driver's seat, and they even watched an ambulance leave with its lights flashing and siren going. My uncle put on his fire gear to show the kids what a fireman looks like all suited up. It was one of the best experiences...maybe because my son was so happy to be there...maybe because I am proud of what my uncle does...maybe because we all passed on a memory to our children that they won't forget for a long time. And that's what all of this is really about.

Here are Rylee and Haven listening to a firefighter speak about fire safety.

This is my uncle with this gear on.

Rylee and my uncle.

Haven was not too fond of her firefighter hat.

Rylee, on the other, could not have had a better day!
